TESTIMONIALS
Here is what some of our mentors have said about how No Boundaries has changed their lives and why they are back to help new participants achieve the same success they did!

"I told [the owner] Lauri that my goal was to run a 5K by Thanksgiving of that year. She looked at me and said, "How about June?" I never thought it was going to be possible. But, on June 19, 2010 I ran my first 5K." - Katie R.
I found the No Boundaries program in a running magazine that I happened to pick up when I was out of town. I knew that I wanted to start running but didn't have anyone who wanted to do it with me. My goal was to run just one 5K in my life. I went to the Fleet Feet store to get signed up for the program that started in April 2010 and to get fitted for my first pair of running shoes. I told [the owner] Lauri that my goal was to run a 5K by Thanksgiving of that year. She looked at me and said, "how about June?" I never thought it was going to be possible. But, on June 19, 2010 I ran my first 5K for the Lombardi Walk/Run. Then Fleet Feet decided to start a triathlon training program for the first time in June 2010. I joined that with a few others from the 5K training program and we all completed our first triathlon on July 25, 2010. Last year I did a total of five races, three 5K's, one triathlon and 8K. This year I plan on doing at least 10 races. These programs are by far the best money I have ever spent on myself. I have made new friends that we have had new experiences together. I look forward to being a mentor to all the new comers and see some old friends come January 26, 2011!!!!

"I joined the program to prove to everyone who said I could do it, that I couldn't! ... To my surprise, I actually enjoyed walking and then running" - Cindy B.
I am a 42 year old woman who has dealt with weight problems most of my adult life. I was probably the heaviest I had ever been when I started the "No Boundaries" program in the spring of 2009. I joined the program to prove to everyone who said I could do it, that I couldn't! I never stuck with any exercise activity. My body ached when I just performed daily actives, which was going to work, eating, and sitting on the couch. So I gave it a try, knowing I would quit or fail. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed walking and then running. The coaches and my fellow class mates kept me coming back week after week. I remember the first day I ran a full 2 miles non-stop. I was truly amazed. I couldn't believe I was actually running!! After I ran my first 5k in September 2009 (the No Boundaries class 5k) I was hooked. I loved the weight loss I was seeing, and I hadn't really changed my eating habits. I was feeling more energetic. It was amazing. I wanted to shout it from the roof tops, and tell everyone to take this class. It truly has changed my life. I got my best friend to take the class, and she loved it too. We now go for a Sunday run instead of a Sunday brunch. I have lost over 40 pounds in about a year. People who saw me at the beginning of the program come up to me now, and tell me how great I look. I have ran over fifteen 5K's, two 10K's, 3 marathon relays, and 2 half marathons since finishing the "No Boundaries" program a year and half ago. I still to this day look back on my journey and have a hard time believing this is all real and I am living it. I really can't believe all I accomplished. It gives me great joy now to mentor new runners, and let them know it is possible to go from the couch to running a 5K. I know it's possible, because I did it! Let me help you, do it too.

"I love to sing to praises of running to anyone who will listen. No Boundaries is right - running changes everything!" - Nancy S.
In Spring of 2009 my friend and I tried running on our own without much success. We walked a little, ran a little, walked a little more. When winter came we stopped all together. Then we found the No Boundaries program and joined the training session in April 2010 - since then, life has never been the same! I have gone on to run several 5k races, trained for and ran a 10k. This year I look forward to mentoring new runners and training for my first 1/2 marathon. Running with a group, training for a run, and doing anything I can to help new runners get started is what keeps me motivated. I love to sing to praises of running to anyone who will listen. No Boundaries is right - running changes everything!

"I told myself that I wasn’t built like a runner, therefore I couldn’t be one. But, in the back of my mind I wanted to be a runner....I started the [5k training program] late, but I ran an entire mile that first night and felt like I won the lottery!" - Sarah K.
I have been active for the majority of my adult life; walking, elliptical machines, circuit training, strength training, spinning, and yoga. But I wasn’t a runner. I would try to run and would feel like a failure after two tenths of a mile…and quit. As a result I didn’t think I could run. I told myself that I wasn’t built like a runner therefore I couldn’t be one. But…in the back of my mind I wanted to be a runner. When I heard about the 5K training class at Fleet Feet what I heard was “it’s for runners and walkers, geared toward beginners.” And I thought, “Perfect, that’s me. Let’s do this!” And I haven’t looked back. I started the session late, I started on a “one mile run” night. I ran an entire mile that first night and felt like I won the lottery. I think it’s that feeling of personal elation and accomplishment that keeps me going. I completed the first 5K session with the official 5K race on June 19. I proceeded to complete a second 5K on July 4 and a third when I “Stormed the Bastille” on July 8. Then I set my sites on Fleet Feet’s 10K training session beginning in August. This motivation kept me running all summer long…and I loved it. Don’t get me wrong, there were rough days and runs that were easier than others…but overall I loved it. Who knew…I could love running! I ran my first 10K on October 24. I’ve kept up running, but have supplemented more cross training this winter. I am looking forward to the January session – it will be a great way for all of us to kick start our spring! The Fleet Feet program is a PERFECT way to start running. The team is filled with kind, knowledgeable people who love to run. I would recommend it to anyone. Welcome to the team!

"It had been several years since I had run and was interested in trying to get back into it. I showed up the next Wednesday and have been running ever since." - Kim P.
It all started with a pair of shoes for my husband. He could not find a pair of comfortable everyday shoes, and a friend recommended Fleet Feet. We stopped in one Saturday morning the summer of 2009, and he got fitted for a pair. After watching the process, I wanted a pair of shoes too. The staff told me about the sports bras they have and a running program to train for a 5k. It had been several years since I had run and was interested in trying to get back into it. I showed up the next Wednesday and have been running ever since. I loved the fact that I had a plan to stick to and the group runs. I was able to stay motivated with the help of the coaches and other participants. After the No Boundaries 5ks, I signed up for the 10k training program and finished my first 10k. I dropped 3 dress sizes, just by running. Last summer, I mentored for the two No Boundaries programs in the summer. It was so much fun and rewarding to help others realize their goals. This past fall, I ran a half marathon with a couple of ladies I met through the No Boundaries program at Fleet Feet. I’m training for another half marathon this spring and am going to do some duathlons and maybe a tri this summer. I never thought I would ever, ever, ever be a runner. Thank you Fleet Feet and all the mentors, coaches, and friends I’ve gained from No Boundaries.

"I participated in 2 sessions of No boundaries and found what I enjoyed most about the group was it helped me to stay committed and motivated." - Janet P.
I have always considered myself active, but never a runner. I was an avid walker for years and participated in walking a marathon in Hawaii with Team in Training. I have also walked the Rock and Roll ½ Marathon in Arizona. Then for a few years I took up road biking and took part in several charity rides around the area including the MS bike tour which I road in for about 5 years. I was looking for a new challenge when a few girls from work told me about the No Boundaries program that they were going to join so I signed up. I participated in 2 sessions of No boundaries and found what I enjoyed most about the group was it helped me to stay committed and motivated knowing twice a week there was going to be a group of runners waiting for me to start and finish rain or shine.

"I love to run since it is a stress relief, a period of time that it is nothing but me, my thoughts, my Ipod, and my sneakers." - Nicole W.
I used to run in grade school and high school for cross country and continued through college, then I met my husband and that was the end of it. After having my second child and realizing that getting back into shape would include a positive New Year's Resolution, and not a negative one. I decided not make my New Year's resolution to lose weight, but rather to be healthy and give myself an exercise goal. Now mind you, my goal was to run a half marathon - but I placed high expectations on myself. So after walking a 5K in January of last year, I decided to start slowly building up to it. I scheduled a run/ race each month, and then I hit a big bump called shin splints. After resting for a month or two and doing PT, my Physical therapist suggested getting back into it slowly. I did some research, and heard about No Boundaries. I joined and completed it, running the entire 5K and then with my New Year's resolution in mind, I continued into the 10K program. I completed the 10K program as well. My ultimate goal is to run the Princess Half Marathon in Disney for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Who wouldn't want to get a shirt that says "Princess in training?" I love to run since it is a stress relief, a period of time that it is nothing but me, my thoughts, my Ipod, and my sneakers. I hope to share my love of running with others, and share my experiences to help prevent the bumps in the road to help bring success for others.

"Reluctantly I attended the meeting, there I saw all kinds of people with different body shapes and thought, 'I can do this'." - Sara S.
My name is Sara, a Brookfield mom of two active boys, I work outside of the home and thought there is no way I have time to run. A friend called and said he just completed a running program near my house and I should consider coming to the informational meeting. He was going to be a mentor and he would be there to cheer me on. Unfortunately, he reminded me that my 40th birthday was a few short weeks away and I wasn't getting any younger, now would be a good time to consider starting some form of exercise routine. Honestly, I never thought I had the body style for running. Reluctantly I attended the meeting, there I saw all kinds of people with different body shapes and thought, I can do this. I was very hesitant to start, I knew it was going to be hard. I would go about 20 feet and thought I was going to die, I was so out of breath. After about 3 weeks, I started looking forward to my training sessions and I was excited to see the friends that I had made at Fleet Feet. I ran my first 5K in September 2010 and I'm so proud to say that I did it.
